With restaurants, parks, shops, and bars all within walking distance, there is always plenty going on in Downtown Cary. But another great thing about downtown is that there are plenty of public events happening every week.
This article will help you make the most of your visit this weekend so you don’t miss out!
Saturday – May 2
This upcoming Saturday will be jam-packed with events. In fact, there is something happening from 8 AM to 10:30 PM. So if you find yourself with some downtime and looking for a reason to leave your home, we got you covered!
The Cary Farmers Market | 8 am – 12 pm | East Park Street, next to the Downtown Cary Park
The farmers’ market happens every Saturday morning. It is a great tradition for those who like to kick off their morning by grabbing a coffee to go (the Coffee Studio is near the market) and strolling down the street to browse the vendors. Get healthy, local goods, and take your dog for a walk! The dog park is nearby if they need some more exercise.

Wands and Wonder: Celebrating Worlds of Wizardry | 4 pm – 10:30 pm | Downtown Cary Park
Watch the Downtown Cary Park transform into a world of magic! Explore herbology gardens, craft your own wand, and meet fantastical creatures. Test your house spirit through spellbinding challenges, then join in more whimsical fun and surprises around every turn. Enchantment, mystery, and wonder await witches, wizards, and magical beings of all kinds!

Participants will be sorted into one of the four houses and can expect an evening of activities and challenges! There will be wand making, food trucks, photo booths, silent discos, and so much more! For further details, we highly recommend you check out the official event page here!

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy 25th Anniversary Showings | 12 pm, 3:30 pm, and 7 pm | The Cary Theater
The theme of fantasy is reinforced by a movie marathon of the award-winning film trilogy that began 25 years ago (the three films won 17 Oscars, including Best Feature)! This is a great chance for those who have never seen these movies on the big screen. Pop in to see your favorite one or make it a full marathon!

Click below for tickets and details for each showing:
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring | 12 PM
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers | 3:30 PM
The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King | 7 PM
All showings are rated PG-13. You must purchase a ticket via the Cary Theater’s Website or at the box office.
Sunday – May 3
Friends of the Page-Walker Herbfest | 12 pm – 4 pm | Page-Walker Arts & History Center 119 Ambassador Loop
Tour the Page-Walker gardens, including a close-up look at the historic 1850s Page smokehouse, stroll through booths selling a wide variety of garden-related items, including home care products, soaps and lotions, edible treats, garden products, and crafts, and learn how to start your own garden.
Herbfest is fun for the whole family, with a craft for kids, a food truck, and a bake sale fundraiser. And of course, don’t miss the butterfly release! For more information, visit Herbfest or call (919) 460-4963.

Closing
Although it is not in Downtown Cary, another bonus event will be down the street on Friday (May 1) in Bond Park! The Bands, Bites, and Boats event will be from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm! Enjoy live music, food trucks, and decorate your bike for a parade! So if you’re visiting Cary for the weekend, grab a lawn chair and be sure to check that out!
We’ll be back next week, but swing by the events page for a preview of what is in store!
