Are you in need of a sweet treat to beat the summer heat? Then you need to visit Geluna Gelato the next time you’re in Downtown Cary!
This great little spot is in the plaza along East Chatham Street (between Di Fara Pizza and Hank’s Downtown Dive). Geluna is a family-owned business run by a husband-and-wife team.
They learned the art of gelato in Italy, and they’ve been sharing that sweetness since they opened in 2022!

What is Gelato?
For those unfamiliar with ‘gelato’, it is also commonly known as Italian ice cream. It is very similar to ice cream, but with a few minor changes. For starters, gelato uses more milk than cream, which lowers its fat content.
Gelato is also denser and served a little bit warmer. So in the end, you get a rich and soft frozen treat! You also have the option to add a complimentary wafer wedged in (think of it as an edible alternative to a spoon).
Delivering the Goods
Their gelato is delicious, that goes without saying. But if you are indecisive about which flavor you want, they encourage you to mix and match. When you order a classic cup, you can have up to three of your favorite flavors (or up to two flavors for a small cup).
There are classic staples like chocolate and cookies & cream, as well as more unique flavors. Take honey lavender or sweet cream (Fior di Latte) for example. There are also three dairy-free flavor options (dark chocolate, strawberry lime sorbet, and lemon sorbet).

If a flavor or two is so good that you have to take it home, they also offer pints to go as well. Just be sure to get your pint last during your trip to Downtown Cary! It is best to avoid melting perfectly delicious gelato.
Take A Sip
Beyond gelato, Geluna offers both hot and cold beverages. Coffee lovers can get their fix with espresso, americano, lattes, and more. Hot chocolate, milkshakes, soda, sparkling water, and more are also on the table.

Closing
Geluna is a great spot to swing by for an afternoon pick-me-up, dessert after a night out for dinner, or any time your sweet tooth kicks in. With the weather warming up and the recent opening of the Cedar Street parking deck, this is your sign to check them out!
