Memorial Day weekend is nearly here! It is the launch of the summer season and many people will be traveling to make the most of the occasion. Should you choose to spend your holiday weekend in Downtown Cary, here are some suggestions to help you and your family make it a great time!
In the Morning
A particular event that happens every Saturday morning (from 9 am to noon) is the Cary Farmers Market on East Park Street. It is a great way to kick off the day! Get a coffee to go and browse the goods offered by local vendors. Since it’s right next to the Downtown Cary Park, you can explore over there afterward. Bring your dog(s) to walk alongside you and then unwind at the Barkyard!
As for any other morning, give La Farm Bakery a try! Grab breakfast, a sweet treat, and a coffee, and if the weather behaves, enjoy it with their outside seating. For those who are health-conscious or seeking a different experience, check out The Refreshery’s cold-pressed juices.

If brunch is on your mind, Peck & Plume is a great spot to do it! Enjoy conversation and mimosas inside the beautiful and historical hotel, The Mayton. It is perfectly in the middle of downtown, and a bonus if you happen to be staying there!
In the Afternoon
If you are visiting with children, you have to check out The Nest playground area at the Downtown Cary Park! This multi-award-winning playground has something to engage kids of all ages, with its iconic cardinals at the center.
Although there is no swimming pool in the park, we suggest bringing a swimsuit anyway. Why? Because the town recently reactivated the ‘spraygrounds’ for the summer to help keep you cool! Find spots where water shoots out of the ground to keep you cool.

A fun way to spend time is to go shopping! Get your wardrobe ready for the summer season with the neighboring stores Gentlemen’s Corner and Villa 19. With each store specializing in either men’s or women’s clothing, it can be fun to browse together or to divide and conquer. And for very young children, you have to check out the adorable shop that is just down the street, Littles of Cary.

In the Evenings
A special outdoor showing of Wicked: For Good (2025, PG) will take place on Friday (5/22) at the Downtown Cary Park. Come early to enjoy pre-screening activities (starting around 6 pm) for all ages, making it a perfect night out for everyone. Grab your cushions, blankets, and chairs for ultimate comfort as you settle in to enjoy the film. Food trucks will also be on site.

A perfect combination is to have a nice dinner and then grab some dessert afterward. Although there are too many restaurants to list (check out our directory for that), you can find something to match your tastes, whether it is southern, Asian, Mediterranean, Americana, pizza, or more! And with Downtown Cary being very walkable and close together, you can enjoy a short evening walk to grab ice cream from wherever you decide to eat.
Beyond that, enjoy a cocktail, a local brew, or a glass of wine at a great variety of locations in the area to close out the night.

We’ll See You There!
Whether it is Memorial Day weekend or just the next time you get to visit us, there is always something to do in Downtown Cary! Be sure to come back to stay in the loop of future events and plans and have fun!
