There is always plenty to do in Downtown Cary with its restaurants, bars, shops, and more all within walking distance of each other. Lately, we have been focusing on upcoming events, so you don’t miss out. But big events aren’t the only reason to visit, and that is what this blog is all about! Sometimes, it’s the little things.
So here’s a list of five things that you should try at some point this summer in Downtown Cary!
Enjoy a Coffee and Sweet Treat in the Morning at La Farm Bakery
The best way to guarantee a good day is to have a great morning! And La Farm Bakery can help with that, opening with fresh goods every morning at 7 am. Stop by to get a coffee and a sweet treat. If it is a nice day, there is plenty of outside seating!
Sip a Spritz on the Back Patio of Vino & Tap
And speaking of nice days, here’s something to try in the afternoon and/or evening. Vino & Tap opened earlier this year and they have a prime spot right next to the Downtown Cary Park. They specialize in wine and wine-based drinks, but there are cocktails and beer for everyone else to enjoy.
So you have to enjoy a happy hour or an evening outing on their spacious back deck overlooking the park. And even if the weather isn’t ideal on the day you visit, the interior is cozy with its art deco-inspired decor.
Attend a Free Movie Night or CaryLIVE! Show in the Park
The Downtown Cary Park is always a great place to socialize and explore. It is an extra-special time on select nights when the Great Lawn transforms into an entertainment venue for a movie screening or live music. It is public and free!
It will take a little bit of preparation on your end, because you should bring lawn chairs or a blanket to be comfortable. Plus, you should arrive early to grab a good viewing spot. You will not be bored waiting for the show to start, though. There are always pre-screening activities happening before movie nights. Food trucks are available, and drinks are welcome within the social district.
Be sure to keep up to date with the event schedule so you can plan ahead.

Having Drinks at Bond Brothers with a Di Fara Pizza
Bond Brothers has been a staple of the Downtown Cary scene for ten years now! They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a great selection of local brews. When having a good time with friends, time runs away and appetites increase. Food trucks are always a good option, but another option is to order a pizza delivered straight to you.
Just down the street is Di Fara Pizza, which has a neat delivery network for Bond Brothers and other local spots. Order what you want on your phone and then pick it up from the bartender when it arrives. Worry less about food and keep the conversation and vibes flowing.
Getting FRESH Ice Cream in the Evening
To round out this list (for now), you should enjoy a frozen treat at FRESH. You will usually find a small crowd outside their doors on summer evenings, and that is for good reason. They offer quality ice cream with street-side views of Chatham Street. After a nice dinner, it is the perfect way to end the night while talking, people-watching, and tasting flavors like cookie dough or Biscoff.
