Cary, and especially downtown, has gone through many changes over the last couple of years. One place that has maintained its traditional appeal for over 35 years is The Upper Deck Sports Bar & Bar, located at the Shoppes on Harrison, along Harrison Ave (right next to the train tracks). The Upper Deck is a laidback bar with plenty of TVs, games, food, and drinks.
Walking in, the walls are covered in genuine paraphernalia collected over the years, which gives the pub an element of character that a chain restaurant could never achieve. With the Super Bowl about to happen, the Winter Olympics, and eventually March Madness and the World Cup, it’s a good excuse to give them a try if you haven’t yet!
Great and Open Late
Upper Deck and its kitchen stay rolling until 2 AM on late weekend nights. This gives the pub significant flexibility in meeting patrons’ needs. You can pop in for an hour to grab lunch or dinner. Maybe the brewery that you and your friends are at is closing soon, and you don’t want the night to end just yet. You can be snacking on appetizers and keep the evening going strong.
Their menu covers everything someone would want from a pub. Wings, burgers, tacos, salads, and a variety of snacks and sides. Plus a giant variety of beers on tap and other drinks, it’s a place that accommodates nearly any visitor.

Not only can you watch games at Upper Deck, but you can also play them. The establishment looks a lot more spacious once you’re inside, with pool tables, indoor cornhole, a pinball machine, foosball, poker, and a lot of dartboards. In fact, darts are one of Upper Deck’s claims to fame, with over 17 boards to play on. They proudly host the biggest dart leagues and tournaments in North Carolina!
