Cotton House Brews Up History and Halloween Fun

As the autumn air turns crisp and the leaves begin to fall, there’s no better place to embrace the spirit of the season than Downtown Cary’s most enchanting establishment: Cotton House Craft Brewers. This October, the historic venue fully leans into the spooky season, transforming into a beautifully decorated haunt that promises an unforgettable atmosphere. But the magic of Cotton House isn’t just in its seasonal decorations; it’s in the very walls themselves.

A Living Piece of Cary’s History

Step onto the welcoming front porch of the Pasmore House, and you’re stepping back in time. Built circa 1900, this beautiful structure was originally a boarding house for some of the very first students of Cary High School. For over a century, these walls have held memories, and today, Cotton House honors that legacy.

As a family-owned business with over 45 years of roots in the community, the owners have meticulously restored the home, highlighting its original character. Inside, you can admire the exposed brick of two original fireplaces, feel the cool, smooth surface of the stunning 25-foot Italian marble bar top, and appreciate the handcrafted details, from the NC walnut lighting fixtures to the locally made tap handles. Historical photographs and local art adorn the walls, creating a tangible link to Cary’s past and present. It’s a space that feels both timeless and warmly inviting.

The Craft of Atmosphere and Ale

Cotton House is both a bar and an experience. The venue masterfully blends social and intimate spaces, from the cozy taproom with its prohibition-era charm to the spacious double-tiered back deck overlooking a lush backyard. With views of the Downtown Cary Park and its fountain, it’s the perfect backdrop for any afternoon or evening.

The focus is squarely on quality craft beer and community connection. Whether you’re an inquisitive beer nerd or a boisterous socialite, you’ll find something to love on their curated tap list. This month, lean into the season with their own Oktoberfest lager, or try the whimsically named “Look Bee-hind You” wheat beer. For something uniquely tart, their Harvest Jam fruited sour is a perfect choice. They also feature beloved favorites from other breweries like Terrapin and Sierra Nevada, plus a complete selection of non-alcoholic options from Athletic Brewing, ensuring there’s a perfect pour for every palate. And coming back soon, a rotating lineup of the best local food trucks will have your taste buds in for a treat.

Don’t Miss the Halloween Happenings!

This October, the historic charm of Cotton House takes on a thrilling, spooky edge. The entire house is decked out in Halloween-themed decor, making every visit a festive and photo-worthy experience.

The spooky season culminates on Halloween, October 31st, when Cotton House will be a proud participant in the Scary Cary Bar Stroll. Join them and eight other Downtown Cary bars for a ghostly good time, perfect for a night of costumed fun and craft beer.

So this fall, don’t just go to any bar. Step into a story. Settle into a cozy room by the fireplace, gather with friends on the festive back deck, and raise a glass to history, community, and the perfect pour at Cotton House.
