If you were in the area on Thursday, September 3rd, you would have found things very quiet.
In the afternoon of a hot, sunny day, the power to a widespread part of Cary suddenly shut down. This caused great confusion and left thousands of homes and businesses without power for a few hours.
According to WRAL, this outage occurred due to an accident while trimming trees for the railroad. Work went underway immediately to repair the damage.
Unfortunately, restoring the power wasn’t going to be a quick fix and several businesses in the Downtown area had to close early with no air conditioning or equipment. For a brief moment, Downtown turned into a ghost town.
The electricity returned later in the evening, so some places reopened for the night. As of now, everything should be restored and no further interruptions should occur. Everything is well for this upcoming Labor Day weekend and we hope you get a chance to visit!
