Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night” and “Alone at the Drive-In Movie,” recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.

Live at Lunch: Jake + Johanna of the Soul Psychedelique Orchestra

October 16 @ 11:30 am – 1:30 pm – Downtown Cary Park

Spend lunch at Downtown Cary Park enjoying live musical performances as the melodious backdrop for the break in your day.

Live music will be performed by Jake and Johanna of the Soul Psychedelique Orchestra on Academy Plaza. Jake and Johanna are an acoustic power pop duo based in Raleigh, NC and hail from the popular show band The Soul Psychedelique Orchestra.

Johanna Boberg decided to relocate from Los Angeles, CA to Raleigh, NC in 2008, where she’s seen singing mainly with “The Soul Psychedelique Orchestra” and “Jake+Johanna Acoustic Duo”. “As I grew older, I always knew music was going to be in my life one way or another”. She started studying music at a young age and just kept going, since a backup plan was never an option. After attending a Music High School, she decided to move to Hollywood, CA to attend Musicians Institute. There she further grew as a musician/vocalist and eventually joined the staff for 5 years. Being a well-rounded and educated vocalist gave her opportunities that took her in directions she never thought was possible. She became a sought-after studio vocalist and live performer. Over the years, she’s performed with artists like Hilary Duff, Christopher Williams, Maroon 5, and Rod Stewart, and appeared on national television shows including The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen DeGeneres, Much Music Awards, The Today Show, and Good Morning America.

Jake Rowe picked up the guitar at age eight and never put it down. A seasoned performer, he’s played with bands throughout Florida and North Carolina, including Orlando’s The Bloody Jug Band. He studied show production and touring at Full Sail University and brings that behind-the-scenes knowledge to every performance. Now based in Raleigh, Jake performs regularly with The Soul Psychedelique Orchestra and in intimate sets with Johanna as part of their acoustic duo, always driven by a passion for creating and sharing live music.

Before she even takes the stage, peruse her small museum of haunted artifacts and spiritualist memorabilia. And at the end of the night, get your chance to ask her anything. CaryLIVE!: TAE & The Neighborly

October 18 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm – Downtown Cary Park

The last CaryLIVE! of the season will deliver soulful and powerful moments as TAE & The Neighborly take the stage, with opener Amanda Peach Duo

Tae & The Neighborly, a Wisconsin based Soul-pop R&B group, found themselves playing music together in a very unconventional way.

They were all neighbors, each one living alone on one floor of a five-story flat. Cake baking is a shared passion of the five member group, but in the sugar shortages early in the 2020 pandemic, they found themselves so continually knocking on each other’s doors asking for a single cup of sugar that a group decision was made to all move in together and share cake-baking resources. And since everyone knows all good rhythms begin in the kitchen, it wasn’t before long that the group began to write and perform together across the nation.

Critics hail the group as “having more kick than a bagged-up mule” (Rotary Times) and their live show “…going down smoother than a can of [beans] warmed on the campfire” (Cowboy Gazette). All in all, if you are looking for a dense show that will give you more inspiration fuel for self lovin’, world changin’, and consideration havin’ meet them where the music is made to be shared.

This concert series is free. Be sure to bring a chair or blanket for a comfortable viewing experience.
