The Force was strong in Cary this Star Wars Day, as fans of all ages gathered across Downtown Cary for a day of movie magic, lightsaber battles, LEGO builds, and even a ChewBARKa costume contest. Whether you embraced the Dark Side or joined the Resistance, there was something for every fan in this galaxy (and town) far, far away.

Lights, Camera, Action at The Cary Theater
The celebration kicked off at The Cary Theater, where fans could experience the saga on the big screen with three legendary films:
- Revenge of the Sith (2005)
- A New Hope (1977)
- Rogue One (2016)

It was a perfect selection of chronologically connected movies that were produced in different decades. Costumed volunteers greeted attendees, and the lobby was lively for those ready to experience the franchise for the first or hundredth time. There was also a complimentary photo booth—because no Star Wars event is complete without a Wookiee selfie.

Downtown Cary Park: A Festival of the Force
Meanwhile, Downtown Cary Park transformed into a hub of intergalactic fun with activities for Jedi younglings and seasoned Sith Lords alike. Here are the top highlights:
Jedi Training
Aspiring Jedi lined up for lightsaber training workshops, where young Padawans learned combat moves—free lightsabers were handed out, and yes, the “whoosh” sound effects were mandatory.
LEGOs
Playwell TEKnologies supplied LEGOs for those in the Academy Pavilion to express themselves with sci-fi-inspired creations. The Galactic Showcase displayed jaw-dropping fan-made LEGO creations, proving that “size matters not” when it comes to creativity.

ChewBARKa’s Dog Costume Contest
The Dark Side had nothing on the adorable chaos of the Star Wars-themed dog costume contest. The Bark Bar was the cutest corner of the galaxy. (Special thanks to Mosa Pet Spa & Resort for the prizes!)
Yoda Wisdom & Kyber Crystal Hunts
For those seeking a more mindful Force experience:
- Chris Vitiello led Yoda-inspired Tanka poetry in the Gathering Garden.
- A Kyber Crystal scavenger hunt sent explorers across Willow Isle—because every Jedi needs their perfect crystal for their saber.
Food, Trivia & Roaming Cosplayers
- Trash Talk & MunchiLove food trucks kept rebels fueled.
- Hammered Trivia tested fans’ knowledge (twice!).
- Cosplayers roamed the park, making every corner photo-worthy.

A Day to Remember
From movie marathons to LEGO battles, Cary’s May the 4th celebration was a perfect tribute to the saga we love. The best part? Seeing generations of fans—human, canine, and droid alike—come together to share the Force.
Until next year… may the 4th be with you, Cary!
