It all comes down to this weekend! On Sunday November 19th, all the dreaming, all the planning, all the collaboration and teamwork and creativity, all the creativity and leadership will be on full display at the much anticipated ribbon cutting and grand opening of The Downtown Cary Park! Here are some highlights:
Cary is welcoming the community into the new Downtown Cary Park for the Park’s first official event on Nov. 19. The official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be supplemented by a day-long celebration complete with live entertainment, light shows, celebrity meet and greets and more.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Here are a few of the special activities that will take place throughout the day on Nov. 19:
- 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. — Meet & Greet: Ripken the Bat Dog
- 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. — Food Truck Rodeo
- 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. — Interactive Performances by Imagine Circus
- 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Live Performances by Shaleigh Dance Works
- 12 – 2:30 p.m. — Musical Performance by Al Strong Quintet & Friends
- 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. – Barks n Rec Trivia Round 1
- 3 – 4 p.m. — Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with Bandit Flight Team Flyover
- 4 – 7 p.m. — Paperhand Puppet Intervention
- 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. – Barks n Rec Trivia Round 2
- 5 – 6:30 p.m. — Meet & Greet: Jim O’Heir (Parks and Recreation)
- 5 – 7 p.m. — Meet & Greet: Celebrity Dogs Ruby Rose & Emma Grace
- 6 – 11 p.m. – Fountain Light & Music Show
- 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. – Barks n Rec Trivia Round 3

PARKING AND SHUTTLE INFO
Due to the high volume of attendees, we highly encourage visitors to utilize our free shuttles, public transit, rideshare services or carpool.
Free shuttles to the Park are available for visitors that park at the Town Hall Parking Deck (121 Wilkinson Ave, Cary, NC 27513) and Cary Academy (1500 N Harrison Ave, Cary, NC 27513). Shuttles will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the last departure from the Park at 8:45 p.m. ADA accessible shuttles will be available.
Make the most of the free GoCary bus service to easily access the Park. All eight GoCary bus routes conveniently connect at the Cary Depot which is less than half a mile from the Park. To plan your trip or access the GoCary Ride Guide please, visit GoCary.org.
A rideshare drop-off location for the Park is available on S. Walker St. near The Walker building.
Free public parking is available in the following areas:
- Parking Deck Located behind the Cary Regional Library – 113 Walnut St, Cary, NC 27511
- Gravel Parking Lot Next to the Parking Deck on Walnut Street – 105 Walnut St, Cary, NC 27511
- After 12:30 p.m. ONLY – First Baptist Church Cary – 218 S Academy St, Cary, NC 27511
- Designated Street Parking Throughout Downtown
- Town Hall Parking Deck – 121 Wilkinson Ave, Cary, NC 27513
- Chamber of Commerce Parking Lot – 307 N Academy St, Cary, NC 27513
- ADA Parking ONLY – Cary Elementary School (bus entrance) – 400 Kildaire Farm Rd, Cary, NC 27511
Please note, the following parking lots and areas will not be open to the public:
- S. Academy St will be closed to vehicular traffic from Park St. to Dry Ave from 9 AM – 8 PM
- The parking lot on Charlie Gaddy Lane (Old Library Site)
- The parking lot at the Cary Arts Center
- The parking lot behind Cary Elementary located off Faculty Drive
- The First United Methodist Church – 117 S Academy St, Cary, NC 27511
