Your Voice Matters: Help Shape Cary’s Budget on April 7

Downtown Cary is the vibrant heart of our town. It’s a walkable, historic, and thriving community where people live, work, gather, and play. From public spaces to essential services that keep our downtown vibrant and sustainable, every element of what makes this area special depends on thoughtful planning and investment.

That’s why your input is so valuable right now. The Town of Cary is currently developing its Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) budget and residents are invited to participate directly through a drop-in Budget Open House.

When – Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM (stop by anytime, no RSVP needed)
Location – Cary Senior Center Ballroom, room 201 (In Fred G. Bond Metro Park, 120 Maury Odell Pl, Cary, NC 27513)

This casual, open-format event gives you the chance to learn how Cary’s budget works and what your taxes and fees support, speak one-on-one with Town staff, and share your priorities for the coming year.

Show what you’re passionate about! It could be for maintaining and enhancing parks and public spaces, supporting local businesses and events, improving walkability and transit, investing in infrastructure, or ensuring high-quality services across Cary. It’s your opportunity to be heard!

Cary’s Collaborative, Year-Round Budget Process.

Cary uses a unique “rolling budget” approach. This means planning and adjustments happen continuously throughout the year, with quarterly reviews of revenues, expenditures, and service levels.

A dedicated staff sub-committee worked closely with department directors to review the budget strategically. Their focus is on preparing Cary for the future by adapting to the end of certain subsidy periods, managing inflationary pressures, and meeting growing community needs, while protecting core services, investing in infrastructure and staff, and maintaining our strong AAA bond rating.

The result is a balanced approach that keeps Cary positioned as a remarkable, sustainable community.

But the best budgets reflect real community priorities. That’s where you come in.

Why Downtown Residents and Businesses Should Attend.

If you live, work in, or love Downtown Cary, you see daily what’s working well and where opportunities exist. Your perspective on developments, public amenities, safety, events, and quality-of-life investments directly influences how resources are allocated town-wide.

Attending the open house is a simple but powerful way to help ensure the FY27 budget supports your priorities. Such as a thriving, walkable downtown, sustainable growth that preserves Cary’s unique character, strong infrastructure, and services that benefit residents and visitors alike.

No formal presentation or long commitment is required. Just drop in, ask questions, and share your thoughts. We look forward to seeing you on April 7!
