Live Music: Heather Maloney with opener Abigail Dowd

June 7 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Massachusetts-based “writer song-singer” Heather Maloney found music in the midst of three years at a meditation center, honing a sound moored in days of silent reflection and reverence for storytellers like Joni, Rilke, Ken Burns, and the anonymous authors of Zen parables. Heather has toured nationally as a headliner as well as in support of acts like Lake Street Dive, Shakey Graves, Gary Clark Jr., Colin Hay, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and many more. The New York Times called her music “utterly gorgeous, visceral” and SPIN Magazine described her as “stunning, breathy, and starkly memorable”.

Opening for Heather is Abigail Dowd, Singer, songwriter, and guitarist who grew up under the longleaf pines in the Sandhills region of North Carolina. Pulling from her heritage of storytelling and determination, Dowd weaves hints of Celtic melodies with the soulful gospel of the south to create a sound that dances between folk, rock and blues.

Pride: Pop Up Chorus

June 12 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm – The Cary Theater

PopUp Chorus

Come celebrate PRIDE 2025 by singing two classic songs with a room full of peers! Wrap yourself in a rainbow flag, let loose, and sing your heart out!

But What is PopUp Chorus?

Ask yourself these questions: Do you like to sing? Have you thought about joining a chorus but are too busy to commit? Do you sing in the shower or in your car? Did you sing in college or school but don’t have an opportunity to now? Do you want to be in a giant band? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you belong in PopUp Chorus!

We’re an ad hoc chorus with no audition or weekly commitment. People turn up when they want to sing and love the song choices! We’re never the same group twice and everyone is welcome, regardless of singing ability.

At each event, our conductors, teach two songs and when everyone is ready, we do a dress rehearsal, and end with a final filmed performance. This is your chance to feel the joy of singing with others. It’s easy and fun!

Estimated run time: 120 minutes with an intermission

All sales final.
