It feels like almost every day a new neighbor is moving into Downtown Cary. This past Saturday (January 28th) our friends from GiGi’s Playhouse were unloading a U-Haul in front of their brand new space, what they’re calling their #foreverhome, right here in the heart of downtown.
The new location is in the bottom of the Walker, right on the corner of Walnut and Walker streets.
Here are two pictures their team sent us today as they unpack in prep for serving families soon at the new location:
More from a few of the folks at GiGi’s about the big move, but first a little bit more about who they are and what they do.
GiGi’s Playhouse (which has locations all over the United States) serve individuals with Down syndrome, and their families.
At GiGi’s Playhouse, all ages are welcome, from pre-natal to adults. The positive and uplifting environment of GiGi’s Playhouse Raleigh will empower those with Down syndrome and their families to reach their highest potential. GiGi’s Playhouse’s custom, research-based curriculum works towards advancing literacy, math skills, gross and fine motor skills, improving low muscle tone, building self-esteem, preparing for the workforce and more while fostering acceptance, awareness and networking resources for parents, siblings and the community. All programs are FREE of charge: cost will not be a barrier to achievement!

They are incredible people providing an incredible service, because most folks on team GiGi’s have been impacted by Down syndrome, including their Executive Director Jeanhee Hoffman who’s brother Sam has Down syndrome:
Needless-to-say, they are excited to be part of the growing Downtown Cary community, and there’s no doubt our community will welcome them with open arms.
Michelle Pfeiffer is the Board President, and her daughter Anna has Down syndrome. Michelle knows just how much a location like this will mean for their organization and the families they serve:
Here are a few more pictures from their big move this weekend, including helping hands from volunteers from the GiGi’s family, the NC State football team, and a few local F3 Carpex guys:
Check out GiGi’s Playhouse on their website, and be sure to say hi when you see them at the new location downtown.
