It’s that time of the Summer again, when guests from all over are welcomed to Downtown Cary for the annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival.
Lazy Daze first started in Cary back in 1977 and have grown to now include participants and vendors from 19 states.
“This truly has become a national festival,” said Adam Bell with the Town of Cary.
Adam is a friend to our blog and he’s always working hard with a smile on his face at events downtown.
“This is an important weekend for us because at the heart of it we are supporting non-profit partners in our community. They create and produce so many of our programs in Cary, and so when we’re talking about Lazy Daze or other festivals, the more we can tie it back to those who help make it happen, the better,” added Adam.
As for supporting local partners, to date, the Festivals Committee has awarded over $800,000 in grants to various nonprofit organizations. More organizations will benefit from that support again this year.
Like years past, Lazy Daze will feature a beer garden, numerous interactive art activities, a kid’s world area, and demonstrations from professional craftsmen, Lazy Daze remains a top-rated contemporary crafts festival among the nation.
Looking for an interactive way to be part of the art experience, outside of browsing and buying? This year there will be a 16-by-4 foot paint-by-numbers mural. It’s a community project, so be ready to grab a paint brush, a cup of paint, and get to work. The festival will provide it all!
“We’re really excited about this. It’s a big community project and will give everyone a chance to be an artist,” said Adam.
We’ll see you there this weekend, and be sure to keep an eye on our Instagram for more pictures and happenings from the festival.
