Summer is in full swing, and now that the kids are out of school, the whole family is looking for some fun ways to spend the day. Look no further, Downtown Cary is the place to be! Take a look at some of the exciting events that are happening in July in Downtown Cary:
July 3rd Celebration
July 3, 4:00 pm at Downtown Cary Park
Get ready to kick off your July 4th festivities early at our July 3rd Celebration in the Park! Join us for a star-spangled extravaganza featuring a movie screening of National Treasure (PG), family-friendly activities, and a mouthwatering lineup of food trucks. It’s the perfect occasion to gather your loved ones and enjoy some pre-Independence Day fun!
Schedule
4 – 8 p.m. | Aquarena (Park Street Courts Arena) – The Arena will be turned into a refreshing cool zone featuring two giant misters, water blasters and pools to splash in and refill your blaster.
4 – 8 p.m. | Art Cart (The Nest Pavilion) – Create memories and art with our coffee filter fireworks craft.
6 – 8 p.m. | Your John Hancock (Academy Plaza) – Become a founding father when calligrapher Kymberly Arana writes your name in a style similar to those on the Declaration of Independence for you to take home.
*Kymberly will be back later in July to teach a weekly workshop on writing styles.
6:30 – 7:30 p.m. | Liberty Games (Frantz Square Lawn) – Become the ultimate American. Four teams of four will compete in a four grueling games. Sign up prior to the event via Sign Up Genius (Click here to sign up!). Not competing? Come cheer on the players! The games include:
- Flip Flop Toss – How far you can flip a flip flop off your foot? (say that 5 times fast)
- Frozen T-Shirt Contest – T-shirts are soaked in water, folded and then frozen. Simply unfold the shirt and put it on and you win. Easy enough, right?
- Citizenship Trivia – Flex your USA knowledge by answering five questions off the US Citizenship Exam.
- Red, White and Blue Relay – Partake in a relay race where each team member will compete to earn their stripes.
DUSK (Approximately 8:15 – 8:30 p.m.) | Movie Night: National Treasure (Great Lawn) – What’s more American than Nicolas Cage solving age old US mysteries? Nothing. Enjoy this PG-film from the Great Lawn. Bring chairs or a blanket for comfortable viewing.
4 – 9 p.m. | Food Trucks (Park Street) – Enjoy delicious bites from The Dogfather, The Flat Drum or Truman’s Smokehouse.
Cary Town Band Presents: Downtown Cary Patriotic Celebration
July 3, 7:30 pm at the Cary Arts Center
Set against the backdrop of the historic Cary Arts Center, the theme of this year’s Downtown Cary Patriotic Celebration is By Air and By Sea. Our music pays tribute to the brave service members who defend us from threats arriving by sea and from the sky. The celebration includes the presentation of the colors, the Pledge of Allegiance, singing our National Anthem, a musical salute to our veterans, and a patriotic speaker. Come join us for our annual tribute to the founding of the United States of America!

Cary Farmers Market
July 6, 13, 20, and 27, 8:00 am at East Park Street
Join the Cary Farmers Market for the traditional market season along East Park St., next to Downtown Cary Park.
Find a wonderful lineup of vendors offering all locally made and locally grown items. Shop for freshly-harvested produce, humanely-raised meat, and artisan-made goods. Stop by the info booth to learn about their matching program for SNAP/EBT.
Children can also get their very own Farmers Market Passport and participate in the Eat-A-Rainbow program, which encourages children to eat healthy, nutritious foods. Learn more about the new location, nutrition programs, and other information on their website.
Trivia Night
July 11 and 25, 6:00 pm at the Downtown Cary Park Bark Bar
Get ready to test your knowledge and unleash your competitive spirit at Trivia Night in Downtown Cary Park’s Bark Bar! Led by the witty hosts from Hammered Trivia, it’s an evening packed with brain-teasing questions, laughter, and prizes. Gather your friends, grab a drink, and let the games begin!

Performances at the Page: Jamrock
July 12, 7:00 pm at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center
A Page-Walker favorite, Jamrock returns to fill the air with authentic reggae rhythms. Rock out with “yard style” reggae, including lovers rock, oldies, dancehall, and roots music. Celebrate the bands’ Jamaican influence and origins. For more information, visit Performances at the Page.
Movie Night: Jurassic Park
July 19, 6:00 pm at the Downtown Cary Park Great Lawn Pavillionn
Join us under the stars for an exhilarating movie night in the Park featuring the timeless adventure of Jurassic Park, curated by The Cary Theater! Experience the thrills and suspense of this PG-13 classic as dinosaurs come to life on the big screen.
Grab your cushions, blankets, and chairs for ultimate comfort as you settle in to enjoy the film with popcorn and snacks from Market 317. Food trucks will also be on site.
Prescreening activities and games will begin at 6 p.m. The film will begin at dusk.

Applause! Cary Youth Theatre presents: Peter & the Starcatcher
