Independence Day the Cary Way

For the past 33 years, the Cary Town Band has been celebrating the Independence Day holiday with a free concert. Although the original concerts were held at Bond Park, for the past 25 years, the band, and the Town of Cary, now welcome the public to downtown and the Cary Arts Center.

The Annual Downtown Cary Patriotic Celebration will turn its focus this year to the “Founding Fathers and Mothers” of our country. The all volunteer, wind ensemble band will play songs featuring songs dedicated to the men and women who founded the United States of America.

We often think of the “Founding Fathers,” like Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and George Washington, for this program the band will also celebrate the efforts of our “Founding Mothers.” The program includes Sousa’s The Gallant Seventh, the famous patriotic chorale, ChesterSelections from 1776, and a new work commissioned especially for this concert.

The concert begins at 7:30 PM on Monday, July 3rd, and is open to the public and free of charge.

The Cay Town Band, joins the North Carolina Symphony and Mayor Harold Weinbrecht as they salute to the red, white, and blue as we honor the birthday of the U.S.A. Enjoy patriotic favorites, high-spirited classics, fun activities for kids and a dazzling firework display over Symphony Lake.

This event is also free and open to the public. Gates open at 3:30 PM and the Cary Town Band take the stage at 5:20 PM with fireworks beginning at 9:25 PM.
