Selma (Film)

The unforgettable true story chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement. Director Ava DuVernay's "Selma" tells the story of how the revered leader and visionary Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and his brothers and sisters in the movement prompted change that forever altered history.

From the Town of Cary event page: Join us for Cary's Inaugural Community Lantern Parade! Saturday, January 15th from 6-7 pm Gather with your lanterns ready at 6 pm! We will meet at Fidelity Plaza, 100 W Chatham St, Cary (no fire/real candles please!) Poles are available for use during parade (please return at the end) Parade Route Parade leaves Fidelity Plaza at 6:15 pm, proceeds down Academy St, and ends at the old library site, 320 Academy St This event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available outside businesses and the library parking deck. Music entertainment provided by Pants for Birds, along with One Tribe, food trucks and fire spinners. Come join the party and celebrate the change of the season!
