Downtown Cary’s Best of the Weekend: October 9 – 15

Downtown Cary is full of launch parties, festivals, and anniversaries this week — so take your pick! Bond Brothers Beer Company is “hopping” this Thursday, unveiling an exciting Can Release Party on Thursday night, with samples and giveaways!

Sunday brings two amazing festivals! The Downtown Cary Food & Flea 5th Anniversary has over 65 handmade vendors and artisans, food trucks, coffee, desserts, giveaways, and free activities! Just down the road, Chatham Hill Winery is hosting Triangle Ferment Fest, with demos, booths with food and vendors, and hands-on workshops on fermented treats like kombucha, kimchi, and more. Take home a treasure trove of fermented goodies!

Each of the above-listed events has free admission, so go have an adventure in Downtown Cary!

Wednesday, October 9

  • Park after Dark in the Downtown Park – 7-9 p.m. Enjoy a lovely Fall evening, sitting around the glowing fountain in Downtown Park, listening to the live jazz stylings of Lydia Salett Dudley. Chatham Street Wine Market, Loco Pops, and Arepa Culture will be on-site with drinks, food, and treats!

Thursday, October 10

  • Belays Well with Others Can Release Party at Bond Brothers Beer Company – 6-9 p.m. An exciting release party for a new line of beers, made in collaboration with Triangle Rock Club! Low-calorie, gluten reduced, lightly hopped ale brewed with yerba mate. Enjoy samples, and Triangle Rock Club will be on-site with amazing giveaways!

Friday, October 11

  • Stories We Can Tell at the Cary Arts Center – 7:30 p.m. Ever heard an Aesop’s Fable told with music? Now you can, along with a premier ballet from the Graceful Expressions Dance Company. Enjoy an evening at the theatre, with the Cary Town Band’s musical storytelling ballet! Admission is FREE.
  • Church Street Jazz at Chatham Hill Winery – 7-10 p.m. Jazz and wine on a beautiful Autumn evening at Chatham Hill Winery. Dancing isn’t required, but it’s definitely encouraged! No cover; no minimum!

Saturday, October 12

  • Downtown Cary Farmer’s Market, 8 a.m.-noon. Enjoy fresh seasonal produce from local farmers, bluegrass music on the front porch of the Ivey-Ellington house, and tables from local vendors. Kids can enjoy the kid’s table with activities, and well-behaved dogs are welcome! 
  • Dex and the Halftones at Cotton House Craft Brewers – 7-9:30 p.m. Sit on the rustic deck with a cold craft beer or cider, and listen to jazz under the stars. No cost for admission!

Sunday, October 13

  • Downtown Cary Food & Flea Anniversary – noon-4 p.m. Come celebrate our fifth anniversary, with an assortment of food trucks, local craft beer, and over 65 local handmade artisans. Live music, desserts and coffee, and even a “paint your own work of art” station!
  • Triangle Ferment Fest at Chatham Hill Winery – 1-5 p.m. A fun and unique food festival that both teaches and celebrates all things fermented! Enjoy demos, presentations, and hands-on workshops on fermented favorites such as kimchi, kombucha, yogurt, and sauerkraut–and take home your own creations after each workshop! Local booths with food vendors with samples, and craft items for sale! Admission is FREE.

Tuesday, October 15

  • Run Club at Bond Brothers Beer Company – 6:30 p.m. Cheers to your health! Take a run around the beautiful streets of Downtown Cary, then celebrate with craft beer!

Jazzy Live Music and Autumn Favorites!

This week features several opportunities for magical fall evenings with relaxing live jazz under the stars. Sit around the glowing fountain or lay out in the lawn with a glass of wine or a Loco Pop at Downtown Park’s Park after Dark on Wednesday evening. Church Street Jazz will be playing at Chatham Hill Winery on Friday night, and Dex and the Halftones will be offering lively jazz on the rustic, dog-friendly deck of Cotton House Craft Brewers on Saturday.
