Downtown Cary Park turns 1 on Saturday. You’re invited to the party.
Just last November, Cary opened its downtown park. Now, to celebrate Downtown Cary Park’s first year, the town is holding a day of events featuring “Greatest Hits” from the park’s programming calendar.
These events include children’s activities, yoga, musical performances, free cupcakes and Cary’s first ever drone light show arranged by Sky Elements. It will be a day full of celebrations!

Cary group charts new restaurant on Chatham Street
Some of the leading developers in Downtown Cary are transforming the property at 107 E. Chatham St. into a new restaurant.
The project, approved on November 8, will repurpose the former Gurkan’s Auto Repairs building, expanding it from 1,258 to 5,000 square feet. The building, dating back to 1951, will have its original façade restored. The site was purchased in 2021 for $900,000 and is part of the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Cary.
North Carolina Town Cary Honors Mariah Carey by Renaming Itself ‘Carey’ on Nov. 1 Each Year
Mayor Harold Weinbrecht, Jr. issued a proclamation temporarily changing the spelling of the town to “C-A-R-E-Y” for one day on November 1 in honor of the season and Mariah Carey’s contributions to it.
The announcement was made on local radio station MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM’s morning show with Carey present, to which she responded “this is perfect,” and “I need to move there.”
