Downtown Cary: Best of the Weekend September 18-24

This weekend’s events make the best of the beautiful autumn weather, with live music, bicycling adventures, brewery tours, and Sunday morning yoga and mimosas. Come enjoy an afternoon in the Downtown Park, and taste the pumpkin-spice goodness popping up at bakeries, coffee shops, and breweries around Downtown Cary.

Wednesday, September 18

  • Wednesday Night Gravel Ride at Cotton House Craft Brewers – 6-8 p.m. Take an off-roading bicycling adventure, starting at Cotton House Craft Brewers and traveling to Umstead Park. Enjoy delicious food and drinks, beautiful scenery, and awesome company.
  • Pickin’ on the Patio at Jordan Lake Brewing Company – 7-9 p.m. Bring your own guitar, ukelele, banjo, or other acoustic instrument for a round of pickin’ and grinnin’ on the comfortable covered patio at Jordan Lake Brewing Company. Join the jam session, or just come listen and sip a craft beer. Dogs are welcome!

Thursday, September 19

  • 919 Day at Downtown Park – 5-9 p.m. Come celebrate all things local in our 919 Area Code! Reflect on our unique culture and community at Cary’s Downtown Park with live music, food trucks, local vendors and artists, spin classes, and more!

Friday, September 20

  • Light of My Life at The Cary – 2 p.m. This independent drama explores a frightening world where the female population has been wiped out by a plague. Civilization’s one remaining girl is kept a secret, protected by her father in a world that would tear her apart.
  • Queso Monster at Bond Brothers Beer Company – 4 p.m. Bring your pup along for craft brews and rich Mexican food at Bond Brothers Beer Company.

Saturday, September 21

  • Cary Live at Downtown Park – 7 p.m. Come out for an evening of live music by the Talbott Brothers, who play a unique blend of rock, blues, and pop with authentic storytelling. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a picnic of local food vendors like Andia’s Homemade Ice Cream, Philly’s Cheesesteaks, Chatham Street Wine Market, Jordan Lake Brewing Company, and Arepa Culture NC.
  • Bond Brothers Brewery Tour – 1-1:45 p.m. Get a behind-the-scenes look of the brewing and processes at Bond Brothers Beer Company. All guests will receive three samples of beer and a complimentary Bond Brothers 10 oz. beer glass. Tickets are $10.
  • Boogies and Brews: Zumba Class at Bond Brothers – 11 a.m. – noon. Come kick off your weekend with energizing Zumba at Bond Brothers Beer Company. Stay after for craft beer and food! Class costs $6 and does not include price of food or beverages.
  • Downtown Cary Farmer’s Market, 8 a.m.-noon. Enjoy fresh seasonal produce from local farmers, bluegrass music on the front porch of the Ivey-Ellington house, and tables from local vendors. Kids can enjoy the kid’s table with activities, and well-behaved dogs are welcome! 

Sunday, September 22

  • Practice Gratitude Yoga at Cotton House Craft Brewers – 11 a.m. Begin your Sunday with gentle yoga and a relaxing mimosa or beer. This 60-minute yoga class takes place on a rustic deck with fresh autumn air. $12 includes class and drink.
  • Animal Cupcakes Class at Once Upon a Blue Moon Bakery – 1-4 p.m. Join this kid-friendly cupcake decorating class. Take your cupcake decorating skills to the next level! All supplies included, and finished cupcakes are yours to take home and enjoy! Suitable for children age 8 and up; beginners welcome. Cost is $59

Monday, September 23

  • Get Movin’ Mondays at Downtown Park – 6 p.m. Enjoy fun and exercise on a beautiful Fall evening! Each Monday in September, Downtown Park offers engaging, free group fitness activities. Bring the kids, and let’s get moving! This Monday, the activity is Kid’s Fitness, ages 3-7.

Tuesday, September 24

  • Run Club at Bond Brothers Beer Company – 6:30 p.m. Cheers to your health! Take a run around the beautiful streets of Downtown Cary, then celebrate with craft beer.
  • Luck of the Draw Dart Night at Jordan Lake Brewing Company – 7 p.m. Make friends over a game of darts and a glass of craft beer.

Getting Outdoors in Downtown Cary

September is a beautiful month to enjoy Downtown Cary’s outdoor activities! Grab an Ashworth’s hotdog or some sweets from Fresh Local Ice Cream or Once in a Blue Moon Bakery, then take a stroll for a picnic at the Downtown Park, where games like mini-golf and chess await.

Try a morning “Yoga and Beer” class at Bond Brothers Beer Company or Cotton House Craft Brewers–or, if you prefer, take a leisurely wander through the dog-friendly Downtown Cary Farmer’s Market, where local artists and artisans share seasonal food and gifts.
