Downtown Cary: Best of the Weekend, October 16-22

The cool weather is here at last, and Downtown Cary has dozens of cozy activities prepared to make the most of the crisp autumn air! Kick off the weekend with a rustic trolley tour down to Good Hope Farm, led by local farmers who will share stories from the North Carolina’s agricultural community.

Saturday morning, warm up with a stroll around Downtown Park, where Baristas & Bakers will be waiting with hot coffee and sweet seasonal pastries. Then, head on down to the Downtown Cary Farmer’s Market by the Ivey-Ellington House.

Don’t miss the unique Yoga & Puppies session at Jordan Lake Brewing Company, where adorable 7-week-old beagle puppies are waiting to help with your morning exercise routine.

Saturday night, get in the Halloween spirit by watching spooky movies at The Cary Theater.

Wednesday, October 16

  • Cary Trolley Farm Tour at The Cary Theater – 5 p.m. In conjunction with the Biggest Little Farm, hop aboard the the trolley for a ride out to Good Hope Farm. On this special trolley ride, you’ll get to speak with farmers, learn about modern day agriculture, and experience the bounty of the farm. Then, enjoy a film at The Cary! Tickets are on sale from the box office only.
  • Pickin’ on the Patio at Jordan Lake Brewing Company – 7-9 p.m. Bring your own guitar, ukelele, banjo, or other acoustic instrument for a round of pickin’ and grinnin’ on the comfortable covered patio at Jordan Lake Brewing Company. Join the jam session, or just come listen and sip a craft beer. Dogs are welcome!

Thursday, October 17

  • Free wine tasting at Chatham Street Wine Market – 5-7 p.m. Join us for our free weekly wine tasting! Liz from Kellogg Selections will be in the shop introducing a lineup of unique and tasty wines from California and beyond.

Friday, October 18

  • Cousins Maine Lobster at Cotton House Craft Beer – 5:30-8:30 p.m. Enjoy warm lobster bisque, buttery biscuits, and seasonal beer on a crisp autumn evening on our rustic wooden deck. Dogs are welcome! Come drink, relax, or play cornhole in the yard.
  • Live Music and Food Truck at Chatham Hill Winery – Warm up with some cozy wine, live music, and food from Jessica’s Food Truck. No cover charge!

Saturday, October 19

  • Yoga with Puppies at Jordan Lake Brewing Company – 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Come enjoy a relaxing morning of yoga, while playing with adorable 7-week old puppies. Class is $25, with all ticket sales benefitting the Triangle Beagle Rescue.
  • Baristas & Bakers in Downtown Park – 8-11 a.m. Take a crisp morning stroll through Downtown Park to purchase featured coffee and baked goods from local Cary coffee shops. Enjoy seasonal flavors and a beautiful Autumn walk in the park.
  • Downtown Cary Farmer’s Market – 8 a.m.-noon. Enjoy fresh seasonal produce from local farmers, bluegrass music on the front porch of the Ivey-Ellington house, and tables from local vendors. Kids can enjoy the kid’s table with activities, and well-behaved dogs are welcome! 
  • The Blair Witch Project at The Cary Theater – 7 p.m. Time to get spooked with scary movies at The Cary Theater! Kick off your weekend with one of the scariest films of the 90’s.

Sunday, October 20

  • Halloween Cake-sicles at Once in a Blue Moon Bakery – 1-4:30 p.m. Be the envy of your upcoming Halloween party by learning how to create trendy, spooky cake-sicles! These candy-coated, single-serve desserts are colorful, fun, and the hottest trend since cake pops. Finished cake-sicles are yours to take home and enjoy!
  • Pumpkin Hand Lettering at Bond Brothers Beer Company – 3-5 p.m. Celebrate the season in this two-hour workshop, and enjoy some of your favorite fall basics: pumpkins, seasonal craft beer, and crafts! Learn the art of hand-lettering, decorate your pumpkin, and blow up your Instagram with beautiful fall moments! Class includes complimentary drink. Tickets are $40.
  • Child and Adult Yoga Class at Bond Brothers Beer Company – 11 a.m. – noon. Join Little Oaks Yoga for a 45 minute yoga class for you and your child to learn the principles of yoga through movement, music, and games. You and your child will connect with each other, make new friends, and have fun! Afterwards, enjoy lunch from our rotation of visiting local food trucks!

Tuesday, October 22

  • Run Club at Bond Brothers Beer Company – 6:30 p.m. Cheers to your health! Take a run around the beautiful streets of Downtown Cary, then celebrate with craft beer.

Autumn Crafts & Cozy Nights in Downtown Cary

Autumn is a great time to release your colorful creativity! There are plenty of classes and workshops for learning to cook or create something new. Try your hand at a Pumpkin Hand Lettering class, including a seasonal craft beer, at Bond Brothers Beer Company. They’ve got art supplies, pretty ribbons, and all the things you’ll need to have a crafty, cozy day inside.

Once in a Blue Moon Bakery has a tasty workshop for creating adorable Halloween cake-sicles. These popsicle-sized single-serve cakes put cake-pops to shame, and will definitely impress guests at your upcoming Halloween party! Of course, if you’d rather just buy some pumpkin-spice treats to serve, there are tons of delicious homemade seasonal sweets to choose from in Downtown Cary.
