It’s the final week of November, and that means the most exciting event this week is in our own homes: Thanksgiving.
Even the Downtown Cary Farmer’s Market is closed for the weekend, so vendors and artisans can spend the long holiday weekend eating turkey, taking naps, and making memories with family.
However, there are still a couple of fun activities this weekend, if you’d like to get your family out of the house for a while!
For a little weekend fun: On Sunday, the critically-acclaimed movie Judy; a film about the personal life, triumphs, and struggles of Judy Garland; will be playing at The Cary.
Plus, Santa’s Mailbox is still waiting for letters from local children (and children-at-heart!) in the Downtown Park. It’s the perfect weekend to start a new Thanksgiving tradition! Take a crisp walk around our beautiful park, and leave a magical letter to Santa to kick off the holidays.
Friday, November 29
- Toe the Line Beer Release at Bond Brothers Beer Company, 2-4 p.m. Celebrate the release of Bond Brother’s collaboration with Sir Walter Running, a gluten-released, low calorie ale, with lime and sea salt. It’s super clean, crisp, and perfectly crushable. Raffles and giveaways!
Saturday, November 30
- Small Business Saturday in Downtown Cary, all day. Move aside, Black Friday! On Small Business Saturday, you can skip the awful lines and buy meaningful presents while supporting local businesses. Participating businesses in and around Downtown Cary have special deals for unique savings and gifts.
- Letters to Santa at Downtown Park, all day. A very special holiday surprise has appeared in the Downtown Park: A mailbox to the North Pole! Drop off letters in the Santa Mailbox in Downtown Park by December 9 and your child will hear back from our jolly friend in red! Come take part in this annual tradition as we prepare for Santa’s flight over Cary.
Sunday, December 1
- Judy at The Cary Theater, 2 p.m. – This popular film, about the personal life, triumphs, and struggles of Judy Garland, has arrived at The Cary Theater!
Reasons to be Thankful
In the spirit of the holidays, we had Caryites share what they are most grateful for in Cary. It could be a business they love, a particularly beautiful park bench, a memory from childhood, or even a specific person who has made Cary special to them.
While we were overwhelmed with the inspiring and beautiful number of responses and shared memories, we had to condense it down to the best 35 answers. So take a moment and admire the heartfelt gratitude, precious memories, and personal history shared in these nostalgic, beautiful responses.
Happy a wonderful, memorable holiday!
