Downtown Cary: Best of the Weekend, November 20-26

The Christmas tree is going up in Downtown Park, and holiday lights are hanging from street poles. There’s a colorful mailbox to Santa, so kids (and kids at heart) can send their Christmas lists to the North Pole. The holiday events are already starting up in Downtown Cary!

This weekend, you can even let your dogs sit on Santa’s lap to share their secret, special Christmas wish! This Saturday, Jordan Lake Brewing Company is hosting a day for dog photos with Santa. Bring your pup out for a day of fresh homemade dog treats, visiting adoptable pups, a raffle for fun prizes, and high-resolution digital photos capturing the precious moment your pup meets Santa! Best of all, the $15 tickets raise money to help even more pups in need through Canine Community Outreach.

The historic Matthews House is getting decorated for its Festival of Trees, another charitable event this weekend, benefiting Donate Life NC. Like an art museum of Christmas trees and wreaths, decorated with many styles — classic, eclectic, artful, and themed — the event is perfect for getting in the holiday spirit.

Finally, parents can enjoy a date night at The Verandah, while the restaurant provides FREE childcare. This week, kids are invited to watch the classic holiday favorite, The Grinch.

Santa’s Mailbox at Downtown Park all Month

Downtown Park is getting dressed up for the holidays. The tree is up, the lights are lit, and the traditional Santa’s Mailbox is now on display! If you’re looking for a fun and magical weekend outing for the kids, come explore the new Cary Regional Library, followed by a visit to the mailbox, where kids can write their holiday wish list.

This colorful, whimsical mailbox is becoming a holiday tradition in Downtown Cary, so make sure you take part. Last night I heard sleigh bells flying away from the park, so I’m sure the first set of letters has already reached the North Pole.

Follow-up your outing with a quick walk towards Ashworth’s Village or Chatham Street for treats at the bakery, hotdogs at the drugstore, or FRESH Local Ice Cream.

The mailbox is there all day, every day, until December 9. Join in the magic!
