Cary Heart of the Holidays Events

Look ahead a bit, there will be a buzz of Holiday activity happening in downtown Cary on December 4th. Here’s a rundown of all of the Holiday fun that you can expect!

Schedule of events:

Gingerbread House Competition, 10:00 – 4:00

  • Visit Downtown Cary as it is transformed into a walking gallery of amateur gingerbread houses. Local participants work hard to design, create, and display a gingerbread house that is yummy enough for an elf’s visit!  All houses will be on display in select downtown businesses on Saturday, December 4 with the winners being displayed all December long at the Cary Arts Center.   More info here.

Gifting Tree Project, Starts at 10:00 (all day)

  • Stroll along S. Academy Street and inside the Downtown Park as it is transformed into a dazzling Christmas tree display. Local families, schools, and organizations decorate their tree in a competition to win a donation (provided by The Mayton) to the nonprofit group of their choice.

Cary Players Presents “It’s a Wonderful Life,” Various Showtimes Between Dec. 3-6

  • Inspired by the classic American film, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience.  Five actors perform the dozens of characters in the radio play. More information here.

Victorian Christmas at the Page-Walker House, 3:00 – 6:00

  • Enjoy an old-fashioned Christmas atmosphere at the old hotel this winter! There will be cookies, carolers, an activity for kids, heritage music, and opportunities for festive photos in the garden. Weather-permitting, most activities will take place outside. More information here.

Official Christmas Tree Lighting, 6:00

  • Welcome the holiday season with the official Christmas tree lighting for the Town of Cary. This festive night features actors, singers, and musicians from the community and is capped by the lighting of our Official Town of Cary Christmas Tree. More information here.
