A perfect night, and market, in Downtown Cary

Friday, April 21st — With the goal of connecting the community with local artists and vendors, residents and visitors alike came out on a beautifully night in downtown Cary for the second installment of the Cary Night Market.

Located at the site of the old library, right next to the historic Ivey Ellington House, the Cary Night Market is in its 3rd year and continues to grow. This event will be held on the third Friday of each month, from 5:00-9:00PM, through December.

The Night Market Co. (@theraleighnighmarket), which hosts this and similar events across both North and South Carolina, has been impressed with the growth of the Cary Night Market. According to their founder, Sara Baxton, “Cary builds things with its community in mind. This is one of our markets vendors can count on having a large crowd and lots of fun getting to know the community.”

And those in attendance, couldn’t agree more.

Cary resident Emily enjoyed browsing all of the vendors stands and picked up some jewelry from Lemoree (@lemoree) “This event is great, it’s my first time here. I’m impressed with the selection of vendors to choose from, but I had to have these earrings.”

Maria, owner of NC Cookie Momster (@NCCookieMomster) out of Apex, also enjoyed the night and agreed that the Cary market is one of the best. “We love it. We love this location. This is one of my favorites.”

The ladies from Pop Pops Pierogies (@poppopspierogies) made the trip from Pittsboro and plan to be back next month as well. “This crowd has been great, we’ve been staying busy. July will be 1 year for us, so we’re kind of new to this, but we love it.”

Besides local artisans and food trucks, market attendees enjoyed music from the students at Bach To Rock, while family and kids played some fun games including a giant-sized Jenga, tic-tac-toe and others.

If you missed this month’s event, don’t worry, the Cary Night Market will be back on Friday, May 19th.

As for the growth in Downtown Cary, Sarah from the market says they’re here for it. “We have watched the development of the new site since day one. We are excited to continue to be a part of its growth. We may head over there or we may stay in our current spot to keep activation. We go where the Town of Cary needs our help the most.”
