A Heart for Downtown on Valentine’s Day

We love downtown, and we know you do too.

So, let’s celebrate some of what we have to offer for Valentine’s Day here in downtown Cary, from treats to gifts and stops in between.

You can’t go wrong with flowers

Cary Florist has called downtown home for just under seven years (they also have a sister store in North Raleigh that has been around a little longer). As you might expect, Pam Classey, says Valentine’s Day is their “Super Bowl” of Holidays.

“This is our Super Bowl, this is our big day because it’s one big day on a Monday. We’ve only been here in downtown Cary for less than seven years and this marks our first Valentine’s Day Monday delivery, so we’re staying busy. We have traditional roses, but we also package deals that includes things like roses, a plush (stuffed animal) and chocolates along with it.”

Pam says they love being the heart (no pun intended) of everything here in downtown.

A Smile for some Chocolate

Just down the street is one of the best smelling storefronts in all of downtown, and our friends at Chocolate Smiles are prepping for the big day as well. Melanie Williams runs the shop and she says it’s an intense Holiday.

“We have about 1-week to push for Valentine’s Day and then we go right into Easter and Mother’s Day,” says Melanie.

Not to mention they are still coming down from the big December Holiday busy season.

“Our truffles and chocolate dipped strawberries are top sellers this week. We’re grateful for our customers, because great customers make great chocolate.”

Grabbing a Romantic Bite to Eat

Dinner plans? You need look no further than the countless options downtown has to offer. Be sure to check out our Directory Page because, between classic Cary options like Academy Street Bistro and new spots like Hank’s Downtown Dive, plus many more (including great spots for a Valentine’s Day cocktail or beverage), you can’t go wrong.

Be sure to leave a few extra minutes to enjoy a stroll down Academy Street to take in the sights on the GLOW light exhibits.

More sweat treats

Jason at Fresh. Local Ice Cream recommends coming by the ice cream shop for their Red Velvet Chocolate, “Its a special flavor for the entire month of February, with Red Velvet cake batter as the based combined with brownie pieces and white chocolate chips.”

Lily tells us that over at Once in a Blue Moon Bakery their “heart shaped sugar cookies are wildly popular.”

They are also making 6-inch heart shaped cakes, cookie cakes and cheesecakes.

Whether it’s something listed above or another great treat, gift, or spot to grab a bite or drink, downtown Cary is the place to be with love in the air this Valentine’s Day (and you know what, pretty much every day too!).
