Twilight approached after a lovely evening in downtown Cary, and people began to enter the Cary Arts Center Theater to witness the latest performance by the Concert Singers of Cary, titled: Songs, Sonnets, and Touches of Sweet Harmony – Musical Settings of Texts by Shakespeare.
The performance has been only their second in-person show since 2019.
“After a year online, it was time to be back in person,” said Composer Nathan Leaf.
The Chorale is known for its variety, from Bach to Broadway. On this Tuesday night, the theme was live music accompanied by the sung texts of Shakespeare. From timeless plays such as The Tragedie of Macbeth and Twelfth Night to his sonnets.
As Nathan Leaf explains, “The combination of voices and texts has the power to connect with everyone, and that is one reason why we do a variety of styles and a variety of time periods.”
The CSC is happy and eager to be performing again and will begin work towards its next show and theme.
As Composer Leaf concluded, “It’s just your local people here in Cary. It’s your friends and neighbors that are singing in this choir. They are creating a thing of beauty that really comes from the heart, and we just really want to share it with you!”
