North Carolina Olympians: More than 30 with ties to the state head to Paris

More than 30 athletes with ties to North Carolina will be competing at the 2024 Olympic Games.

As for Cary, Cary native Jesse Ssengonzi will swim for the Ugandan team, and NC Courage player Casey Murphy will be playing for team USA. The Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary was also host to the US Olympic swim team as they trained for the Olympic trials! Developers submit plans for downtown Cary’s tallest building yet

Gala Investments LLC has proposed a new project in Cary. Named The Franklin, this 7-story building will be located on Walker Street near Downtown Cary Park. The project features two levels of parking, around 2,500 square feet of retail space, and 40 condos.

The retail space might include La Farm Bakery, though nothing is confirmed yet. The building will also offer a rooftop terrace for residents. 

The site was previously known as Franklin Farm, named after a relative of Benjamin Franklin, and the building’s name pays homage to this history as well as to Chapel Hill’s Franklin Street, reflecting Gala’s UNC ties.

Eater’s 13 Hottest Restaurants in the Triangle for July 2024 includes Downtown Cary’s very own SAAP Laotian Restaurant. Chef Lon Bounsanga, who you may know from Raleigh’s Bida Manda and Brewery Bhavana (or from our profile on him which you can read here, opened SAAP with a focus on the dishes and flavors of his hometown of Vientiane, Laos.

GoCary! Launches Exciting Downtown Loop

A very exciting recent news update for Downtown Cary is the launch of the new GoCary Downtown Loop. The Downtown Loop provides service between destinations like Cary Town Hall, the Downtown Cary Park, and other downtown attractions along Chatham Street.
