The Cary Vintage Market is happening this Saturday, January 13th, from Noon to 5pm over at West End (aka the site of the new South Line Brewing and Vicious Fishes), and Cary native Claire Nobles is excited to bring a unique vintage market experience to her hometown. Claire owns the vintage business Hummingbird Collective, where she focuses on timeless, classic clothing and accessories.
For those new to the vintage market experience, here are some great things to know before you go from Claire herself:
What can someone expect from the Cary Vintage Market?
The market will consist of multiple vendors with a very diverse line-up of items, styles and sizes. We’ll have women’s and men’s clothing, houseware, furniture and accessories from the 40s to early 2000s. Shoppers can grab a drink while they shop and explore various vendor booths.
What sets the Cary Vintage Market apart from a thrift store?
Over the next few months, my goal is to create an elevated, yet still reasonably affordable vintage shopping experience. We don’t want this to feel like you’re simply going into a thrift store but rather that you’re shopping through carefully curated vintage pieces that have already been hand-selected for you.
What items would you recommend to new vintage shoppers?
The vintage market scene is certainly huge right now. I’m especially seeing a huge trend in vintage denim, leather, neutrals/basics, streetwear (t-shirts, outerwear) and Y2K (early 2000s) fashion. Many of the markets in the area really tailor to the streetwear and Y2K vibes but this one will bring a more diverse line up of decades and styles!
Why Downtown Cary?
I had been wanting to start a market in downtown but wasn’t sure what places could accommodate the set up. When I saw the West End breweries being constructed, I, like so many people, noticed how amazing the space was, and thought it would be absolutely perfect. The breweries have been amazing to work with and I cannot wait to partner with them to bring this special new event to the community!
