Downtown Cary: Best of the Weekend September 25-October 1

Make way for fall! As September comes to a close, and we eagerly await the crisp weather and orange leaves, Downtown Cary says “Hello!” to autumn with a wide selection of outdoor events, music under the stars, and even scavenger hunts!

We’re looking forward to this month’s Final Friday, which brings venues all over downtown to life with music, drum circles, art exhibits, performance art, beer and wine, food trucks, and kid’s activities. On Saturday, the Downtown Cary Farmer’s Market presents their Fall Festival, with local vendors, demonstrations, food trucks, live music, and even a pie-eating contest! Come enjoy the festivities!

Thursday, September 26

  • Playtime in the Park at the Downtown Park – 10 a.m.-noon. Bring your kids for special activities in Downtown Park, including giant Checkers, giant Jenga, bubbles, and art! Plus, enjoy Ping-Pong, Bocce Ball, Chess, and the grassy lawn! Afterwards, come to the new Cary Community Library across the street for two story time gatherings, one at 10:30 a.m. and one at 11:30 a.m.

Friday, September 27

  • Starlight Concert Series at Page-Walker Arts & History Center – 7-9 p.m. Enjoy live music by Jamrock, rocking out to reggae rhythms like Lovers Rock, Oldies, Dancehall, and Roots music. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy a picnic from our on-site food trucks, including Virgil’s Jamaican and Kona Ice. It’s time for a relaxing evening under the stars.
  • Downtown Cary Scavenger Hunt at Cotton House Craft Brewers – 6-9 p.m. Come use a treasure map to follow clues, solve puzzles, and crack codes on a unique scavenger hunt to unlock hidden treasure! Kids are welcome! Complimentary drink included with ticket (non-alcoholic for under 21). Tickets: $25
  • Final Friday with the Cary Art Loop – 6-9 p.m. Final Friday is a party all across Cary, highlighting local artists, musicians, and community events! Enjoy live music, drum circles, belly dancing exhibitions, art exhibits, performance art, beer and wine, food trucks, and kid’s activities. Attendance is free!

Saturday, September 28

  • Farmer’s Fall Festival with the Cary Downtown Farmer’s Market – 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Come enjoy local vendors, live music, activity booths, food trucks, a Kid’s Area, funnel cakes, craft beer, giveaways and prizes, and a scarecrow selfie stand. Celebrate Fall in Downtown Cary by enjoying all the wonderful local food, art, music, and more!
  • Bond Brothers 5k and After Party – Come raise money for a great local cause — supporting Captrust Community Foundation! The whole block will be closed off for the enormous after party, including craft beer, tents, music, food, and more!

Sunday, September 29

  • Movies at The Mayton – 5-7 p.m. Bring the kids for a fun evening out before the week starts again! Kid’s Buffet is included free with the purchase of an adult dinner entree. Buffet includes chicken tenders, cheese pizza, french fries, fruit, and dessert. This week, show your kids the magic of Disney’s classic Aladdin! Viewing the movie is free!
  • Practice Gratitude Yoga at Cotton House Craft Brewers – 11 a.m. Begin your Sunday with gentle yoga and a relaxing mimosa or beer. This 60-minute yoga class takes place on a rustic deck with fresh autumn air. $12 includes class and drink.
  • Yoga-Mojo at Bond Brothers Beer Company – 10:45 a.m. to noon. Loretta Jo brings a signature Yoga-Mojo Flow with a focus on Heart Openers to welcome the cooler days of Fall. Bring your own mat. Class is limited to ~45 people. Food Truck Cockadoodlemoo will be on-site after yoga. $5 cost, does not include food or beer.

Tuesday, October 1

  • Run Club at Bond Brothers Beer Company – 6:30 p.m. Cheers to your health! Take a run around the beautiful streets of Downtown Cary, then celebrate with craft beer.
  • Luck of the Draw Dart Night at Jordan Lake Brewing Company – 7 p.m. Make friends over a game of darts and a glass of craft beer.

Downtown Cary’s Fall Food & Events

Festival season is swinging into full gear as October draws near! From the Farmer’s Fall Festival to First Friday; from to the Bond Brother’s Beer Company’s 5k to Cotton House Craft Brewer’s Scavenger Hunt, this is a great weekend for getting out and enjoying our local scene!

It’s also a great time of year to bring your best furry friend along for the ride! Be sure to check out the best dog-friendly outings in Downtown Cary for some fun ideas for having a downtown adventure with your doggo!

Finally, don’t miss all the Autumn-flavored goodies starting to pop up around downtown!
