42nd annual Cary Jaycees Christmas Parade (Sights and Sounds)

You know the Holiday Season is in full-swing when the Cary Christmas Parade rolls through downtown, a perfect follow-up after the Heart of the Holidays events on December 4th.

The 42nd Annual Cary Jaycees Christmas Parade kicked off at 2pm on Saturday the 11th with nearly 80 parade entries this year (78 to be exact).

Check out some of the sights and sounds from the start of the parade!

The Jaycees, a non-profit with the mission to help promote professional development for young professionals in Cary through community service, say that “the parade is a joyful celebration which includes bands, mascots, local businesses, community groups, and churches.”

Katherine Denton is new to the Jaycee team, but says the parade is a big reason why she joined.

“I first attended the parade two years ago with my soon-to-be fiancé, and I really just loved it,” said Denton. Worth noting, that fiancé is now her husband; congrats!

“This is a big project for us, and I love it. I grew up going to parades in my hometown before moving to Cary. I’ve always liked the traditional marching bands and dancers, but one of the entries from Cary that I just love is the competitive jump rope team,” added Denton.

This was a really cool moment when a member of the crowd jumped in with the jump rope team AND CRUSHED IT!!

The parade started at Urban Park and ended at the Cary Center (see the parade map below).

The 2021 parade Grand Marshal was Sarah Martin, who was nominated for her incredible work as the Chair of the Cary 150th Anniversary Task Force. Congrats Sarah and thank you for your dedication to our town.
